Hello and thank you for contacting us. My name is Angelo and I am an Independent Adviser on here. Kai says:. Have you noticed any problems running multiple guests on the same host with the same UUID?

Quentin Moore says:. Vin says:. Ashley says:. So what is the command again? I am confused. Mjnn says:. Appreciate any help. Drupmatters says:. Out of curiosity do the above work only for Win 7???? My guess is that it should work for that OS as well but you will have to test. Bouch87 says:. David says:. This worked well.

If the goal is to copy and existing vm to a new location and use it in an activated state, I found this workable: 1. Create new vm in Virtual Box Manager. My example is named Test.

Select OS version and memory. Go to that vm file location and open the Test. We will call 6e0b4d2dafcfc2-c8bde8d17 the existing harddisk uuid. Copy your existing vm into the folder of the newly created machine. Again, assume the prior machine was also called Test and this file is Test. Open a command prompt and navigate to c:program filesoraclevirtualbox. First run this to make sure the new disk will be referenced properly.

Lastly, run this to make sure activation is not a problem later. Trying again from step 4: 4. Did you actually go to the System page and check the activation status? I tried this and it changed the UUID but still gives me the alert that the hardware has changed!

Ofc says:. Luke says:. What am I missing? Martin says:. Tried several versions now and found one, that did the trick nicely: When cloning a vbox do NOT create new MAC Adresses for the virtual network-adapters.

Return to VirtualBox on Windows Hosts. Export this raw version as ova file and delete it afterwards. Start this Windows version in VirtualBox and activate it. I start Windows and the first minute it is also activated. Suddenly the activation is gone and I get the error message: Windows cannot be activated on this device because the product key has already been used on another device.

Error Code 0xCC Re: An activated Windowsguest changes through running the Hardware UUID and looses the activatio by mpack » Fri Jun 21, pm We don't claim to be experts on how Windows calculates a device signature.

I'll only say that, clearly, your procedures are not enough to prevent Win10 from detecting a change in hardware. Also that I'd expect Win10 to look at a great deal more than the motherboard hardware ID when calculating a signature. Also, it isn't clear to me that you understand how activation works. Win10 will calculate a hardware signature. On activation it will tell the server to store the association between a product key and that hardware signature.
